    Current Water Innovation Research Internship

    Current, a non-profit based in Chicago, launched in 2016 as a partnership of the City of Chicago, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and World Business Chicago. Current delivers advanced research and market-driven innovations to enhance water resources and drive sustainable economic growth by bridging gaps in water technology commercialization.

     

    The Current Water Innovation Research Intern will contribute to Current’s mission through a variety of different projects and tasks such as water technology research and assessment; research and analysis on emerging scientific, engineering and economic issues that impact the water sector; and development of new projects related to topics such as nutrient management and urban stormwater.

     

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Research and Analysis: Support the Current Demonstration program through technology research and analysis.
    • Program Development: Assist Current team on developing and implementing projects related to advanced research, technology demonstration and commercialization.
    • Database Research and Management: Support the creation of a database of water providers and users of water technology innovations.
    • Outreach and Communications: Help develop strategic communications content and support events that bring together stakeholders in the water tech ecosystem.

     

    Required Qualifications

    • Aptitude for, and interest in, applied water research, technology development, and/or commercialization of technology
    • Ability to work independently and self-guide work
    • Strong writing and verbal communication and presentation skills
    • Experience in a start-up or entrepreneurial environment desired
    • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office products
    • Experience or background in science, technology, or engineering preferred

     

    The Current Water Innovation Research Intern will work on a part-time basis of a minimum of 15 hours per week for approximately 15 weeks from January through May 2018.

     

    The intern will receive a stipend upon the completion of the internship dependent on the number of hours worked.
